It\u2019s a partial fast that focuses very heavily on vegetables and other healthy whole foods, but leaves out any animal sources of protein. Many users of this biblically-based fasting method follow it for 21 consecutive days.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Beverages<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Water only \u2014 it must be purified\/filtered; spring or distilled water is best<\/li>\n<li>Homemade almond milk, coconut water,\u00a0<strong>coconut <\/strong>\u00a0and vegetable juice<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Vegetables<\/strong>\u00a0(should form the basis of the diet)<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Fresh or cooked<\/li>\n<li>May be frozen and cooked but not canned<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Fruits<\/strong>\u00a0(consume in moderation 1\u20133 servings daily)<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Fresh and cooked<\/li>\n<li>Ideally low\u00a0<strong>glycemic index<\/strong>\u00a0fruits like stone fruits, apples, berries, cherries and citrus fruits<\/li>\n<li>May be dried but should not contains sulfites, added oils or sweeteners<\/li>\n<li>May be frozen but not canned<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Whole grains<\/strong>\u00a0(consume in moderation and ideally\u00a0<strong>sprouted<\/strong>)<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Brown rice, oats quinoa,\u00a0<strong>millet<\/strong>, amaranth, buckwheat, barley cooked in water<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Beans &amp; Legumes<\/strong>\u00a0(consume in moderation)<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Dried and cooked in water<\/li>\n<li>May be consumed from can as long as no salt or other additives are contained and the only ingredients are beans and water<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Nuts &amp; Seeds<\/strong>\u00a0(sprouted are best)<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Raw, sprouted or dry roasted with no salt added<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Daniel Fast or Daniel Diet\u00a0is based upon the prophet Daniel\u2019s dietary and spiritual experiences as recorded in the Book of Daniel in the Bible.
